Winter in Yellowstone PORTFOLIO
Imagine standing under a canopy of a million stars, on a subzero night. A pack of wolves are yapping and howling just beyond the next hill celebrating a fresh kill. Every fiber of my being is in fight or flight mode. This was the setting as Joe and I waited in the piercing cold, for Old Faithful to erupt on a frigid February night a couple years ago. We hoped to capture the geyser's plume of steam against the impossibly starry sky. Eventually after 4o minutes of foot stomping, hand clapping, I've-never-been-so-cold-in-my-life, waiting, the geyser let her rip. For two glorious minutes we snapped away. The resulting image was bought by National Geographic for a National Park calendar. For me, however, the taking of the photo was reward in itself. It will always remain etched as one of my most memorable photoing experiences. This folio is a compilation of two, winter trips to fabulous Yellowstone National Park.
