GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK WYOMING
May 2023
There are certain places you are drawn to again and again, and like an old friend, there is comfort in knowing what to expect, of shared memories and a happy anticipation, of knowing what grand vista or lovely grove of aspen waits to greet you just around the next bend. My first visit to Grand Teton was in the summer of 1965 with my family. Funny thing, while I do remember the mountains, my most indelible memory was of the wildflowers: meadows thick with lupine and yellow Balsamroot. Memories of a little girl, sitting cross-legged in a meadow surrounded by bright blooms and blue sky, while Dad photoed with his 8x10 Sinar camera nearby. Now at least ten visits, and 50+ years later, the Tetons are truly an old friend. No flowers on this trip, but plenty of late spring snow, misty mornings, and wildlife to enjoy. And...good memories in abundance.
