It was 113° when we pulled out of the driveway. "Stay at home" covid orders and oppressive heat had kept us inside for weeks, but now, Joe and I were making our escape! In a borrowed RV, we had two weeks to revel in the moist coolness of California's Redwoods and the Southern Oregon Coast. Our goal: to photo really, really, big trees! For those of you, who have had the mind-blowing experience of visiting the Redwoods or Sequoias, you know the dizzying feeling of looking up 300+ feet to the canopies touching the sky. Their massive trunks can measure over 100 feet around. When you realize that many of these trees are not just hundreds, but thousands of years old, our silly inflated egos shrink, while at the same time, our spirits are raised to lofty heights. Our photos can't possibly do these giants justice, but I do hope they convey their majesty and inspire you to go take a walk in the woods yourselves.
