ORANGUTANS AND FRIENDS Island of Kalimantan, Indonesia
I truly felt like Katherine Hepburn , jugging up a crocodile infested river in the jungles of Kalimantan (Borneo). We had come to Indonesia on a tour with the Leakey Foundation, and the culmination of two weeks of travel was a journey to Camp Leakey in Tanjung Puting National Park. Here, we would be introduced to world famous primatologist, Birute Galdikas, and meet her study subjects of 50+ years, the wild Orangutans of Borneo. Along the way, watching the jungle slide past our boat, we were entertained by troops of Proboscis monkeys, Macaques, and gorgeous tropical birds flitting through the trees. The entire adventure felt like I was living in a David Attenborough documentary.
