Spring in the Desert
March-April 2023

There are few natural events more dramatic than the transformation of our dry, dormant  Sonoran Desert come springtime.  If conditions are right, and we are blessed with enough rain  in February and March, the landscape erupts into a sea of wildflowers.  This year did not disappoint.  After several years of draught, the rain finally fell, and the desert came to life.   Most of these images were taken in the vicinity of the Bush Highway, Canyon Lake, Bartlett Lake, and the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix.  Sometimes, we don't need to travel at all...the beauty is right in our own backyard!
